Our Vision
Education That Shapes a Lifetime
At Mount Dora Montessori, we believe education is more than preparing children for the next grade—it's about preparing them for life.
Through authentic Montessori education, our students develop the confidence, curiosity, and character to become capable leaders, thoughtful problem-solvers, and lifelong learners.
"Education should no longer be mostly imparting of knowledge, but must take a new path, seeking the release of human potentialities."
— Dr. Maria Montessori
Our Programs
A Continuum of Learning, From Infancy Through Middle School
Our multi-age classrooms reflect the natural way children learn and grow. Younger children are inspired by observing older peers, while older children deepen their understanding by mentoring, leading, and modeling confidence and responsibility.

Infant Program
A peaceful environment that supports each milestone of your infant's first year—movement, language, coordination, and independence.

Toddler Program ("The Nest")
A child-sized world where toddlers build language, confidence, and independence through purposeful, hands-on activity.

Primary ("The Children's House")
Self-directed learning in reading, writing, math, art, and science during the most formative years of your child's development.

Elementary Program
Collaborative, curiosity-driven exploration across science, history, language, and the arts—with field trips that bring it all to life.

Middle School
A hands-on, project-based middle school environment that nurtures the whole adolescent—intellectually, emotionally, and socially.

Summer Programs
A summer of hands-on Montessori exploration, creative discovery, and independence, perfect for current families and first-timers alike.

How We Teach
Six Principles That Shape Everything We Do
The Montessori method isn't simply a curriculum—it is a philosophy that respects each child's natural development, guiding how we prepare environments, support independence, nurture curiosity, and create meaningful learning experiences that help every child flourish with confidence.
01
Respect for the Child
Every child's pace, choices, and inner development are honoured — always.
02
The Absorbent Mind
Young children absorb their environment naturally, so we make it as rich and purposeful as possible.
03
Sensitive Periods
Children have windows of heightened receptivity to language, movement, and order. We recognize them and respond.
04
Auto-Education
Children are born learners. We prepare the environment and trust them to lead their own discovery.
05
The Prepared Environment
Every material and arrangement in our classrooms is intentional — nothing is accidental.
06
The Guide
Our teachers are trained guides who observe closely, introduce carefully, and trust the child to lead.
Our Credentials
Proudly AMI Certified
Not all Montessori schools are equal. AMI — the Association Montessori Internationale, founded by Dr. Montessori herself — represents the highest standard in authentic Montessori education. Our teachers are AMI trained, our materials are AMI aligned, and our approach is grounded in how children actually develop.

What Does a Montessori Teacher ("Guide") Actually Do?
Spend a few minutes in a Montessori classroom, and you may notice something surprising. The teacher isn't standing at the front of the room giving a lecture. Children aren't all working on the same assignment. In fact, it may look like the teacher is simply walking around the classroom, observing. So what is the Montessori teacher actually doing? Quite a lot. In Montessori, teachers are called Guides because their role is fundamentally different from that of a traditional classroom teacher....

Entrepreneurship in Montessori: Learning by Building Something Real
When most people think about entrepreneurship, they picture adults starting businesses or launching the next big idea. In Montessori, we see it a little differently. Entrepreneurship isn't just about owning a business—it's about recognizing opportunities, solving problems, working with others, managing resources, and creating something of value. Those are life skills, and they can begin long before adulthood. That's why authentic Montessori education gives students opportunities to do real...

Montessori Doesn't End at Elementary: Why It Matters Even More in Middle School
When many people hear the word Montessori, they picture young children carefully pouring water, working with wooden materials, or learning to read with sandpaper letters. What surprises many families is that Montessori doesn't end after preschool—or even elementary school. In fact, Maria Montessori believed that adolescence is one of the most important stages of human development. The middle school years are a time of enormous physical, emotional, social, and intellectual change. Rather than...
